SCHOOL-PARENT COUNCIL (SPC)

MISSION

The mission of the School Parent Council (SPC) is to encourage the participation of all the families at the Young Achievers Science & Mathematics Pilot School with the purpose of supporting our scholars and families in order to achieve academic excellence. To promote unity and growth by encouraging families and school community to connect through various activities and fundraising events hosted by the school.

PURPOSE & MEMBERSHIP

The SPC is a self-governing council whose main purpose is to provide/serve as a forum to discuss issues and or concerns that families might have, strengthen family/school partnership and the academic achievement of all of YA scholars. It also serves as a vehicle for fundraising, special projects, events and workshops that support academic achievement. The SPFC provides family feedback to the School Site Council (the governing board of the school). The SPC is comprised of the following elected members: Chair, Co-chair, and secretary. Each elected member serves a 2-year term.  The SPC meets the 2nd  Tuesday of every month from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm.

Every Young Achiever’s family is automatically a member of the SPC.  All families are encouraged to attend the meetings. Agenda items include a wide variety of topics, such as school academic achievement, school goals, policies, events, fundraising, and other school activities and programs based on the school’s needs.
