Technology Curriculum Ideas
Below is just a small sampling of suggestions for incorporating technology into the curriculum.

Activity Description
Web Questions/Answers
Assign Questions related to a topic, unit, etc. and have students answer in a web page. Your questions could be placed on your class web site and students could copy and paste the questions into their web answer page. (Ms. Williams science class (Elements Reading Activity)
Topic CD Rom and/or Web Page
Assign a report or research on a particular topic and have students do their report in MS Word or html format. Some students could gather all reports and create a Topic CD Rom that would be available for current and future students.
Class Writings CD Rom and/or Web Page
Various student essays, reports, short stories, poems, could be compiled and made into a Class Writings CD Rom.
Published Picture Stories on Power Point, Web and/or CD Rom

After students have gone through the writing process, created illustrations, etc., their stories could be published electronically in addition to publishing hard copies. The process of converting stories from hard copies to electronic could be done by class volunteers or YA Tech volunteers who could assist in typing stories into the computer, scanning in the illustrations, and creating the Power Point shows or web pages.

Group Stories
Computer screen is projected using LCD projector or TV. Teaher or assistant types as students write a group story together. The teacher may ask, How does the story begin? The student's answer is typed verbatim as the student is saying it. Then the teacher asks, "What happens next?" and so on.
CAST EReader Activity Assign information for students to read using CAST EReader
Readography
Students are asked to write a Readography.
(Ms. Driscoll's class)

Research Paper

Students are asked to do a research paper that can be worked on at home and at school. Information can be typed in html format using Dreamweaver (in school) or Mozilla Composer (at home). (Ms. Quessa's class)
Graphic Organizer Activity, ie Inspiration Have students write a scene study and use Inspiration to create a web of the story as a pre-writing activity using the Literary Web Template from Inspiration templates. See below link for an example. (Mr. Lamothe's former class)

A WebQuest is defined, by Bernie Dodge at San Diego State University, as "an inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet." See Bernie Dodge's site for a start.
