Instructions for Creating Your Writing Web Page!

You will need to create a new page that will be your writing page. The purpose of the page is to list on your web site the short stories, poems, and essays, research papers and other writings that you wrote or will be writing. You will also need to put a short description of what your wrote or what the assignment was.

  1. You will need to create a new page that will be your writing page. To do that, open Macromedia Dreamweaver and type the title at the top of a new page. The title should be something like What I Am Writing or My Writing List NOTE: When you open Dreamweaver it automatically creates a new blank page. If you don't see a blank web page, go to File at the top, then click on New.
  2. Once you have typed the title, SAVE THE FILE IN YOUR NAMED DIRECTORY ON YOUR "H" DRIVE RIGHT AWAY BEFORE YOU DO ANY MORE WORK ON IT. Please remember the File Naming Rules, all lower case letters and no spaces.

  3. Begin listing the essays, poems, reports, research papers and other things that you have written. We will be making a link to the Writing page from your home web page.
  4. After you make the list works that you have writen, write a paragraph about each work that you have written. The paragraph should include a description of what the work is, ie. this is an essay I wrote for my humanities class etc. , or if it's a short story or poem, give a description of what the story is about.
  5. When you finish writing a paragraph about each work, please create a link to the web file from your index.html page. If you need help on how to make a link, please raise your hand for help or ask a classmate for help.
  6. ADVANCED TASK: If you want to try an advanced web development task, I would suggest adding a TABLE to you web page and arranging your information about your Writings using a table. To add a table to your web page, you will need to click on the web link below and follow the directions on that page.

  7. ADVANCED TASK: Once you have finished that, talk with Mr. Lamothe about scanning in your report cover or an illustration you did to go with your poem or short story.
see: How to Scan a Picture
  8. ADVANCED TASK: Add Thumbnails to your Writings Page for each of the writings that you did. See the instructions for Creating Thumbnails.
