Step by Step Process for FTP - File Transfer
Protocol
Your html web pages and your graphics files will need to be uploaded
from your computer to the Development Server which is called YATECHCITY.
The web URL for that server is http://yatechcity .
To upload your files to that site you will need to open an application
called Filezilla.
The process for uploading your web pages is below.
- Open Filezilla which is the FTP program that we use
to upload files. You should zee the Icon for it on the desktop.
Double click on it to open it.
- Double click on the yellow folder (directory). Keep clicking until
you see your H drive.
- Double click on your H Drive.
- Then double click on your NAMED directory. For example, Mr. Lamothe's
named directory is called rlamothe.
- Click on the Site Manager Icon. See red arrow in picture below.
- A.) Highlight the YA Techcity Site, see top arrow below ,
3 B.) type in your user namae, see red arrow below,
3 C.) type in your password, see red arrow below
3 D.) Click Connect, see bottom blue arrow below.

- You should see a window that looks something like the picture below.
On the left hand side you will see the files that are in your H drive.
On the right hand side you will see the files that are on the YA Techcity
Web Server.
Double click on the web file that you
want to UPLOAD to the YA Techcity Server, for example, your index.html
file.
That will upload your file to the web server.
- If you have already uploaded the file before, a window will pop up
asking if you want to REPLACE the file. Since you have made changes
to the file, click OK.
- Now you want to check your file on the YA Techcity server. You do
this by opening a web browser such as Internet Explorer.
A.)Go to your class web site at http://yatechcity
B.) Click on the Link in the left hand column that says: Teachers,
Staff, Departments, Groups
C.)
Click on your Teacher's Name, then click on the Link that says something
like: Ms. Brinson's Class Web Sites
D.) Click on the Link for your page and see if the web file that you uploaded
has the changes that you made. NOTE: You may need to click the refresh
button on the Browser.
