Instructions for Creating Your Home Web Page - index.html!

You will need to create a new page that will be your home web page. The purpose of the page is to provide a place where visitors to you web site begin. This page should have a welcoming statement, a list of all your subjects, a list of all your assignments, and links to your other web pages of those assignments.

  1. Open Dreamweaver and at the top of a new page put in a welcoming statement to your web site.
  2. Once you have typed the title, SAVE THE FILE IN YOUR NAMED DIRECTORY ON YOUR "H" DRIVE and name it index.html. That's the name that you home page MUST have. Do this RIGHT AWAY BEFORE YOU DO ANY MORE WORK ON IT. Please remember the File Naming Rules, all lower case letters and no spaces.



  3. Under your welcoming statement type in a list of your subjects.
  4. Under your subjects list all your assignments that you have had so far this year.
  5. Create links from your index.html page to your other web pages that you have created. This include at least links to:
      1. Your Readings List Page
      2. Your Writings List Page
      3. Your Memoir
      4. Your Autobiography.
      5. Ancient Civilizations Page - 2nd semester
      6. Graphics Thumbnails Page - 2nd semester
      7 . Grade 7 - Your Readography Page
      8 . Grade 8 - Your Science Questions Page
      9 . Grade 8 - Your Research Paper Web Page
    10 .     Grade 8 - Link to your Resume
    11 . Grade 8 - Link to your ISearch Page - (Ms. Driscolls assignment)
    12 . Grade 8 - Links to ALL your Portfolio work, i.e. Power Point Shows, MS Word Docs, Dreamweaver files, etc.

  6. Click on the little world icon   in Dreamweaver to preview your page and TEST your links by clicking on them.
