Instructions for Creating a Banner in
Adobe Photoshop
You will need to create your Name Banner for your Portfolio
and Your Link Buttons such as a button for Home, a button
for Photos, Graphics, etc. using Adobe Photoshop.
- Open Adobe Photoshop and click on File, New.
- A window will pop up. In that window, change the width
and height to pixels by clicking on the down arrow. Then
make the width 650 and the height 150 or something close
to that, then click ok

Begin experimenting with the tools for creating background,
text, shapes, etc. We will go over these tools in class.
- Click on the Gradient Fill Tool.
- Double click on the foreground color and background color
and pick two colors that will go together.
- Left click, hold, and drag to create a gradient fill.
This may be difficult to understand without an actual demonstration
of how it's done. Please see me for a demonstration. I will
be demonstrating this technique in class and for students
who ask for assistance before we begin the lessons.
- Click on the Text tool and type in your name after picking
a font size, type, and color.
NOTE: First save your banner as an Adobe Photoshop file
type - .psd, then when finished, save your completed version
as a .jpg.
