OBJECTIVE: Your objective this week is to learn about creating thumbnails.

This week you will be creating a graphics page that will contain small - thumbnail - versions of your graphic works. Those small thumbnail versions will be the links to your larger versions.

1. Open Dreamweaver and Create a new page. At the top of the page put your title, something like Robert's Graphic Works.
2. Under the title insert a table and put in a table with 2 columns, and at least 6 rows, similar to what you did for your readings and writings pages. The number of rows will be determined by how many graphic works of art you have. Follow the directions on Understanding How Tables Work For details on how to create a table, go to Mr. L's Tips on Working with Tables
3. Now open Adobe Photoshop, then open a few of the graphic works that you have been working on, i.e., your Alien Planet Landscapes.
4. You will be creating a thumbnail version of your graphics. A thumbnail is a small version of the graphic that you have created that will act as a link to you larger pages. For an example of what I am talking about, see Mr. L's Graphics Page.

OBJECTIVE: Your objective this week is to continue to learn about using Adobe Photoshop graphic tools while working on your Alien Planet Landscape.

Alien Planet Landscape Assignment

Please continue working on your Alien Planet Landscape using Adobe Photoshop. Continue to use the painting tools, shapes tools, and the gradients fills. Be creative, have some fun, use your imagination for what your alien planet might look like.
When you have finish one creation, try creating another. I suggest that you look at some examples that other computer artists have created. Go to a search engine and search for a term something like "alien landscape". Then Click on the pictures there. Notice how many of the artists have used perspective and size to define whether an object is close-in the foreground, or far-in the background.
NOTE: YOU MAY NOT USE CREATIONS OR PARTS OF CREATIONS THAT OTHER COMPUTER ARTISTS HAVE DONE. EVERYTHING IN YOUR WORK OF ART MUST BE CREATED BY YOU.
Tech Tip from Mr. L: Try painting some mountains and cliffs using the paint brushed. Load new brushes to get a wider variety of brushes to choose from. I like the Faux Finish Brushes, especially brushes that have 75 and 50 under them.
See Mr. Lamothe's Graphics Page for an example of what I am talking about. I suggest making the landscape 650 pixels wide by 450 high.
